Terms of Service
These terms explain how you may use the lessons, courses, and content offered by School of Wood Carving, Inc. as part of our charitable, public-benefit work to preserve the art of traditional woodcarving.
School of Wood Carving, Inc. (also styled “School of Woodcarving”) is a 501(c)(3) public charity, not a degree-granting school. We provide free and low-cost woodcarving lessons to learners worldwide as a charitable program. By using schoolofwoodcarving.com, you agree to the terms below.

1. Acceptance of These Terms
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form an agreement between you (the user, learner, or student) and School of Wood Carving, Inc. (“we,” “us,” “our,” or the “Organization”), a Florida Not For Profit Corporation. By visiting our website, creating an account, getting access to a lesson, or making a donation, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy and Donation & Refund Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or our content.
If you are using the site on behalf of someone else or an organization, you confirm that you have the authority to accept these Terms for them.
Please read Section 12 carefully. It includes an agreement to resolve most disputes by binding individual arbitration and a waiver of class actions, with a 30-day option to opt out.
2. Who We Are and What We Offer
School of Wood Carving, Inc. is a charitable arts-preservation organization. Our mission is to preserve the art of traditional woodcarving and to advance woodcarving education as a public benefit — offering professional-quality instruction to any learner worldwide, free from barriers of cost, geography, or background.
School of Wood Carving, Inc. is a Florida Not For Profit Corporation (Florida Document No. N22000001092; EIN 88-0521972), incorporated on February 4, 2022, and in ACTIVE status, recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) public charity, with its principal address at 4781 N Congress Ave #1120, Boynton Beach, FL 33426, USA.
As part of this charitable program, we provide:
- Access to online woodcarving lessons, video courses, and related learning materials;
- Written guides, patterns, images, and reference content created to support woodcarving instruction;
- From time to time, and entirely separate from membership, occasional in-person demonstrations or workshops that, if offered, are arranged and paid for separately;
- A community of carvers, learners, and supporters who share our love of this traditional craft.
Membership contributions and donations directly fund our free instruction and craft-preservation work. We are not a degree-granting school, and we do not award credit or diplomas.
3. Your Account and Responsibilities
To access certain lessons, you may need to register for an account. When you do, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information, and keep it up to date;
- Keep your password and login details secure and confidential;
- Use one account for one person only — accounts are personal to you;
- Tell us promptly at alexander@schoolofwoodcarving.com if you believe your account has been used without your permission.
You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account. Sharing your login, or letting others use your account, is not allowed and may lead to suspension or termination of access.
4. Memberships and Membership Contributions
Memberships renew automatically. Each plan is recurring and renews at the end of every paid period until you cancel. Your chosen payment method will be charged automatically at the start of each new period at the then-current rate, unless you cancel before the renewal date. You may cancel at any time by emailing us at alexander@schoolofwoodcarving.com or by canceling the recurring payment in your PayPal account; cancellation stops future renewals, and your access continues through the end of the period you have already paid for. We will not refund amounts already charged except where required by law.
4.1 Membership Is a Freewill Charitable Contribution
Your membership is a voluntary, freewill charitable contribution to School of Wood Carving, Inc., a Florida nonprofit corporation and a 501(c)(3) public charity. It is not a commercial purchase or sale of goods or services. It is a charitable membership contribution that supports our educational mission of teaching and preserving the art of woodcarving. In recognition and appreciation of your contribution, members receive access to our members-only online woodcarving resources as a benefit of membership. By becoming a member, you confirm that you understand your payment is a charitable contribution to a nonprofit and not a consumer transaction for the sale of a product or service.
4.2 Membership Grants Online Resources Only
Membership grants access to the Organization’s online members-only resources only. These resources may include online video lessons, tutorials, articles, downloadable patterns, and other digital educational materials made available through our website. Membership does not include, promise, or entitle you to any in-person instruction, in-person lessons, live or one-on-one teaching, consulting, services, shipped or physical goods, tools, or materials of any kind. Any in-person lessons or workshops, if we ever choose to offer them, are an entirely separate matter, are not part of membership, and would be arranged and paid for separately. The specific online resources available may change, grow, or be updated from time to time at our discretion.
4.3 Membership Plans
Membership contributions are offered through recurring plans — currently a Monthly plan and an Annual plan (and any other plan we may offer at checkout). The plan, contribution amount, and billing cycle are shown on your membership and billing page before you confirm.
4.4 Recurring Contributions and Authorization to Charge
By starting a membership, you agree to make the recurring membership contribution for your plan, and you authorize School of Wood Carving, Inc. and its payment processors (such as PayPal) to charge your credit or debit card, or debit your bank account, as shown on your membership and billing page. All memberships are recurring and renew automatically at the end of each paid period until you cancel. By clicking to subscribe, you agree to recurring automatic charges at the contribution amount and billing cycle shown, and these charges will continue until you cancel. We accept payments through secure, PCI-DSS-compliant processors, and we do not store your full card details.
4.5 Taxes
You are solely responsible for paying and remitting any applicable taxes or duties (such as sales tax, VAT, GST, withholding tax, or services tax) imposed by any government or collecting authority, except taxes based on the Organization’s net income. If you do not meet these tax obligations and we are required to pay them on your behalf, you agree to reimburse us on demand and to defend, indemnify, and hold the Organization harmless against any related claim or liability, including penalties.
4.6 Cancellation
Your membership renews automatically until you cancel. You may cancel a Monthly or Annual plan at any time, in either of two ways: (1) email us at alexander@schoolofwoodcarving.com; or (2) cancel the recurring payment yourself directly in your PayPal account, which stops all future charges. After we process an email request, we will send a confirmation email showing your membership’s expiration date. You are solely responsible for canceling your membership properly. To avoid being charged for the next period, please cancel — by email or in PayPal — on or before your payment due date. If you have any trouble canceling, contact us at the same address and we will be glad to help.
4.7 No Prorated Refunds
We do not offer prorated refunds for canceled membership plans. There are no refunds or credits for partial periods of access, for upgrades or downgrades, or for time left unused on an open account. To keep things fair and equal for everyone, no exceptions are made. When you cancel, your access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and your membership will not renew again.
If a payment fails or a charge is reversed, we may suspend or remove access to members-only content until the matter is resolved. We may update plan contribution amounts at any time, but changes will not affect a period you have already paid for. Full refund and donation terms are explained in our Donation & Refund Policy.
4.8 Tax Deductibility of Membership Contributions
Because members receive access to our members-only online resources in return for their membership contribution, a membership is treated as a “quid pro quo” contribution for federal tax purposes. This means that only the portion of your membership contribution that exceeds the fair market value of the member benefits you receive may be tax-deductible as a charitable contribution, to the extent allowed by law. To help you, School of Wood Carving, Inc. provides a good-faith estimate of the fair market value of the membership benefits in the receipt or written acknowledgment we send you, consistent with IRS quid pro quo disclosure rules under Internal Revenue Code Section 6115 (which require a written disclosure for payments over $75 that are part contribution and part payment for goods or services). We do not provide tax, legal, or accounting advice, and individual circumstances vary, so please consult your own tax advisor about your specific situation. A pure donation made through our Donate button is treated differently — see our Donation & Refund Policy for details. Our EIN is 88-0521972.
5. Intellectual Property and Your License to Use Content
All lessons, course videos, written materials, patterns, images, designs, text, and other content on the site are created by Alexander Grabovetskiy and owned by School of Wood Carving, Inc. They are protected by copyright and other laws, and they are exclusive to schoolofwoodcarving.com.
When you get access to our content, we grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to view and use it for your own learning. This license does not transfer any ownership to you.
Unless we give you written permission, you may not:
- Copy, download (except where a download feature is clearly offered), record, or reproduce our content;
- Sell, rent, sublicense, redistribute, or publicly share our content;
- Share your login, or give others access to paid content through your account;
- Upload, post, or republish our content on other websites, apps, or platforms;
- Feed our content into artificial-intelligence tools, models, or training datasets;
- Remove or alter any copyright notice, watermark, or credit.
These protections help us keep funding free woodcarving instruction and preserving a traditional craft for future generations.
Trademarks and branding: “School of Wood Carving, Inc.,” the “School of Woodcarving” name and brand, our logo, and the name and likeness of Alexander Grabovetskiy are the property of the Organization and Mr. Grabovetskiy. You may not use them, or anything confusingly similar, without our prior written permission. Other names and marks that appear on the site belong to their respective owners.
Reservation of Rights; No AI Training, Scraping, or Text and Data Mining
All content on this website — including text, images, photographs, videos, audio, lessons, patterns, designs, graphics, code, and their selection and arrangement — is the property of School of Wood Carving, Inc. or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. School of Wood Carving, Inc. expressly reserves all rights in and to this content. Except for the limited, personal access expressly granted to members and visitors under these Terms, you are prohibited from, and you agree not to:
- scrape, crawl, spider, harvest, index, copy, or otherwise collect or extract content from this site by any automated or systematic means;
- use any content, in whole or in part, to train, fine-tune, pretrain, develop, improve, benchmark, test, or evaluate any artificial intelligence, machine-learning, large-language-model, generative, or similar model, system, tool, or dataset; or
- perform text and data mining on any content.
School of Wood Carving, Inc. expressly reserves all rights, including the express reservation of any text and data mining rights under Article 4(3) of Directive (EU) 2019/790 on Copyright in the Digital Single Market (the DSM Directive) and under any equivalent or successor law in any jurisdiction. This is an express and machine-readable reservation of rights. Accessing this site, whether by a human or by any automated agent, bot, or crawler, grants no license, permission, or right whatsoever to perform AI training, text and data mining, or automated harvesting. This reservation applies regardless of, and notwithstanding, any robots.txt file, metadata, technical measure, or absence thereof, and notwithstanding any technical ability to access the content. Any violation is both a breach of these Terms and an act of copyright infringement, and we reserve the right to pursue all available legal and equitable remedies.
6. Acceptable Use and Conduct
We want our community to stay welcoming, respectful, and safe. When using the site, you agree not to:
- Break any law, or infringe the rights of others;
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other learners, supporters, or our team;
- Try to gain unauthorized access to our systems, accounts, or content;
- Introduce viruses, malware, or anything that could harm the site or its users;
- Use the site to send spam, advertise, or run any unrelated commercial activity.
We may suspend or end your access, with or without notice, if you break these Terms, misuse our content, or act in a way that harms the Organization, our mission, or other users.
7. Disclaimers
Our content and services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent allowed by law.
- No guaranteed results: Woodcarving is a craft learned through practice. We do not promise any specific skill level, outcome, or result from using our lessons.
- Technology requirements: You are responsible for your own device, software, and internet connection. We are not liable for problems caused by your equipment or service.
- Possible errors: Our content may contain mistakes or become outdated over time. We work to keep it accurate but cannot promise it is always complete or current.
- Safety: Woodcarving uses sharp tools. You are responsible for working safely and following all safety guidance. Use of our lessons is at your own risk. See Section 8 for important details.
Third-party links and services: Our site may link to or rely on third-party websites and services (for example, PayPal, our course platform, and social media). We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their content, products, privacy practices, or availability. A link is not an endorsement. Your use of any third-party site or service is at your own risk and is governed by that party’s own terms.
8. Assumption of Risk & Release of Liability
Woodcarving is a hands-on craft that involves sharp tools, such as knives, gouges, and chisels, as well as wood, finishes, and other materials. It carries an inherent risk of injury, including cuts, punctures, strain, or more serious harm. By using our lessons and content — and, in the rare event we offer them, any separately-arranged in-person sessions — you understand and agree to the following:
- You voluntarily accept and assume all risks of injury, loss, or damage that can come from woodcarving and from using sharp tools and materials, whether you are learning online or in any in-person session we may separately offer;
- You agree to follow all safety guidance we provide, to use proper protective equipment, to work within your own skill level, and to keep a safe, suitable work environment;
- You are responsible for your own health and for deciding whether woodcarving is appropriate for you;
- Minors: Woodcarving by anyone under 18 must be directly supervised by a responsible adult. That adult accepts and assumes these risks on the minor’s behalf and is responsible for the minor’s safety and conduct.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, you release and discharge School of Wood Carving, Inc., its officers, volunteers, and Alexander Grabovetskiy from any claims for injury, loss, or damage arising out of woodcarving or your use of our lessons, content, tools, or any separately-arranged in-person session, except where such a release is not permitted by law.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, School of Wood Carving, Inc., its officers, volunteers, and Alexander Grabovetskiy will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or our content. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you paid us for membership access in the twelve months before the claim.
10. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless School of Wood Carving, Inc., its officers, volunteers, and Alexander Grabovetskiy from any claims, losses, damages, or costs (including reasonable legal fees) that arise from your use of the site, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party right.
11. Copyright Complaints (DMCA)
We respect intellectual-property rights and expect our users to do the same. If you believe content on our site infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to our designated agent below that includes:
- A description of the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
- The location (URL) of the material on our site;
- Your name, address, phone number, and email;
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized;
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner;
- Your physical or electronic signature.
School of Wood Carving, Inc. has designated an agent to receive notifications of claimed copyright infringement, registered with the U.S. Copyright Office (DMCA Designated Agent Registration No. DMCA-1073654). Send copyright notices to our Designated Agent, School of Wood Carving, Inc., at alexander@schoolofwoodcarving.com or 4781 N Congress Ave #1120, Boynton Beach, FL 33426, US. We will review valid notices and remove infringing material where appropriate.
Counter-notice: If your content or access was removed because of a copyright notice and you believe this was a mistake or misidentification, you may send us a written counter-notice that includes: your name, address, phone number, and email; identification of the material that was removed and its prior location; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification; your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if outside the U.S., the federal court for our district) and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice; and your physical or electronic signature. Send counter-notices to the same contact above. As the law allows, we may restore the removed material in a reasonable time unless the original complainant takes legal action.
12. Governing Law, Arbitration & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that, except as provided in the arbitration agreement below, any dispute relating to these Terms or your use of the site will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Palm Beach County, Florida, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
Informal resolution first. Before starting any formal action or arbitration, please contact us first so we can try to resolve the matter informally and in good faith. We are usually able to settle concerns quickly by working together.
Binding arbitration. If we cannot resolve a dispute informally, you and the Organization agree that any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the site will be resolved by binding individual arbitration, rather than in court, except that either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies. The arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules (to the extent applicable) then in effect. The arbitrator’s decision will be final and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction. This arbitration agreement is governed by the Federal Arbitration Act.
Class-action waiver. You and the Organization agree that each may bring claims against the other only on an individual basis, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, consolidated, or representative proceeding. The arbitrator may not consolidate more than one person’s claims and may not preside over any form of class or representative arbitration. If this class-action waiver is found unenforceable as to a particular claim, then that claim will proceed in court rather than in arbitration.
Your 30-day right to opt out. You may opt out of this arbitration agreement and class-action waiver. To opt out, email alexander@schoolofwoodcarving.com within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, with your name and a clear statement that you wish to opt out of arbitration. Opting out will not affect any other part of these Terms, and it will not affect your use of the site.
Time limit on claims: To the extent allowed by law, any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the site must be filed within one (1) year after the claim arises; otherwise, it is permanently barred.
13. Electronic Communications & Consent
By using the site, you agree to transact with us electronically. You consent to receive agreements, notices, disclosures, and other records (such as cancellation confirmations, price-change notices, and account messages) in electronic form — by email or by posting on the site — and you agree that this satisfies any legal requirement that such records be in writing. You may withdraw this consent by contacting us, but doing so may limit your ability to use parts of the site.
14. General Terms
Termination: You may stop using the site at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms. Sections that should reasonably survive — such as intellectual property, disclaimers, assumption of risk and release, limitation of liability, indemnification, arbitration and dispute resolution, and the limitations period — will continue to apply after termination.
Changes to these Terms: We may update or amend these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date below. Your continued use of the site after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
Force majeure: We are not liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, fire, flood, illness or pandemic, power or internet outages, labor disputes, acts of government, or failures of third-party services or providers.
No waiver: If we do not enforce any part of these Terms right away, that is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later. A waiver is effective only if it is in writing from us.
Assignment: We may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, including in connection with a merger, reorganization, or transfer of our charitable program. You may not assign or transfer these Terms or your account without our prior written consent.
Headings: Section titles and headings are for convenience only and do not affect the meaning of these Terms.
Notices: We may give you notice by email or by posting on the site. To send us formal legal notice, write to School of Wood Carving, Inc., 4781 N Congress Ave #1120, Boynton Beach, FL 33426, US, or email alexander@schoolofwoodcarving.com.
Service of process: Formal legal notices and service of process upon School of Wood Carving, Inc. may be directed to its Florida registered agent: Registered Agents Inc, 7901 4th St N, STE 300, St. Petersburg, FL 33702.
Entire agreement: These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Donation & Refund Policy, make up the entire agreement between you and School of Wood Carving, Inc. about your use of the site. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest will remain in full effect.
15. Accessibility
